Data Controller
OFFJOIN SRL — Via Valparaiso 1, 20144 Milan, Italy
Tax Code / VAT number: 12372620968
Contact: info@offjoin.com
Data Protection Officer
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) designated by the Controller pursuant to art. 37 of the GDPR is Digiwebuno srl, Via Mola Vecchia 2/a, 03100 Frosinone, in the person of Dr. Massimo Genovesi, who can be contacted at gdpr@digiwebuno.it.
Origin and type of data processed
Each processing takes place in compliance with the procedures set out in articles 6 and 32 of the GDPR and by adopting the appropriate security measures provided. Offjoin Srl is a camera company: our products and services provide fast and fun ways to express yourself, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.
When you use these services, you'll share some information with us. So we want to be upfront about the information we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and the controls we give you to access, update, and delete your information. If you still have questions about anything in our Privacy Policy, just contact us at info@offjoin.com.
Information we collect
There are three basic categories of information we collect:
- Information you provide.
- Information we get when you use our services.
- Information we get from third parties.
Information you provide
When you interact with our services, we collect information that you provide to us. For example, many of our services require you to set up an account, so we may need to collect a few important details about you, such as your first name, last name, profile picture (which will be publicly visible on our services), phone number and password. We may also ask you to provide additional information, such as email address or date of birth.
You also provide us whatever information you send through our services, such as Joins and Chats. Keep in mind that users who view your Joins, Chats and any other content can always save or copy it outside the app. So the same common sense that applies to the internet at large applies to Offjoin: don't send messages or share content that you wouldn't want someone to save or share. When you contact our support team or communicate with us in any other way, we collect the information you volunteer or that we need to resolve your request.
Information we get when you use our services
When you use our services, we collect information about which of those services you've used and how you've used them. This includes:
- Usage information — how you interact with our services (which Joins you view or join, how many users you invite, who your friends are, search queries) and how you communicate with other Offjoiners (names, time and date of communications, number of messages, and message interactions such as when you open a message).
- Content information — content you create, including whether the recipient viewed it and the metadata provided with the content.
- Device information — hardware model, operating system version, device memory, advertising identifiers, unique application and device identifiers, installed apps, browser type, language, battery level and time zone; data from device sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, compasses, microphones, headphones); and network connection data (mobile phone number, carrier, IP address, signal strength).
- Device phonebook — with your permission, information from your device's phonebook.
- Camera and photos — images and other information from your device's camera and photos (needed to send Joins or upload media).
- Location information — with your permission, information about your precise location using GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi access points and other sensors.
- Cookies and other technologies — cookies, web beacons, web storage and unique identifiers to collect information about your activity, browser and device, including through our partners. Most browsers accept cookies by default; you can remove or reject them in your browser or device settings, though this may affect the availability and functionality of our services.
- Log information — details of how you used our services, device and browser information, access times, pages viewed, IP address, cookie identifiers, and the pages you visited before or after navigating to our website.
Information we collect from third parties
We may collect information about you from other users, our affiliates and third parties. For example: if you link your Offjoin account to another service, we may receive information from that service; advertisers, app developers, publishers and other third parties may share information with us to help target or measure ads; and if another user uploads their contact list, we may combine that data with other information we have collected about you.
How we use information
The information we collect is used to provide and continuously improve our products and services. We use it to:
- develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain and protect our products and services;
- send you communications, including by email (to respond to support requests or share information about our products, services and promotional offers we think may interest you);
- monitor and analyse trends and usage;
- personalise our services, including suggesting friends and profile information and customising the content and ads we show you;
- add context to your Offjoin experience;
- provide and improve advertising, ad targeting and ad measurement, including through precise location where you've given permission;
- enhance the safety and security of our products and services;
- verify your identity and prevent fraud or other unauthorised or illegal activity;
- enforce, investigate and report conduct that violates our Terms of Service, respond to law enforcement requests and comply with legal requirements.
How we share information
We may share information about you with:
- Other Offjoiners — your name, profile picture, information about how you interact with the services (such as friends who join your Joins), device information, any data you've directed us to share, and content you post or send (how widely it is shared depends on your settings and the service).
- All Offjoiners, business partners and the general public — public information such as your name, profile picture and public profile, and public content set to be viewable by everyone.
- Our affiliates — entities within the Offjoin family of companies.
- Third parties — service providers that perform services on our behalf (including ad measurement and delivery), business partners providing services and functionality, partners helping prevent fraud, and disclosures for legal, safety and security reasons (to comply with legal process, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, property and safety). We may also share information in connection with a merger, acquisition or similar transaction.
- Non-personal information — aggregated, de-identified or anonymised information with third parties who provide services to us.
Third-party content and integrations
Our services may contain third-party content and integrations. Through these, you may provide information to the third party as well as to Offjoin. We are not responsible for how those third parties collect or use your information, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies of every third-party service you visit or use.
How long we keep your information
We store information for different periods of time. We keep your basic account information — first name, last name, profile picture, phone number, email address and list of friends — until you ask us to delete it. We keep location information for varying periods depending on precision and the services you use; location associated with a Join is retained as long as we store the Join.
If you decide to stop using Offjoin, you can request deletion of your account by emailing info@offjoin.com. Once we verify the account is associated with you, we proceed with deletion. We cannot promise deletion within a specific timeframe, and we may need to preserve certain data for legal reasons, in response to valid legal process, or where required to investigate abuse or Terms violations. We may also retain certain information in backup for a limited period or as required by law.
Control over your information
- Access, correction and portability — you can access and edit most basic account information directly in the app. We may ask you to verify your identity first, and may decline requests in limited circumstances (for example where a request risks another user's privacy or is unlawful).
- Revoking permissions — in most cases you can revoke a permission by changing the settings on your device; some services may lose full functionality as a result.
- Deletion — you can request account deletion by emailing info@offjoin.com, and you can delete some information in the app, such as chats and active Joins.
International data transfers
We may collect, transfer, store and process your personal information in the United States and other countries outside of where you live. Whenever we share information outside of where you live, and we are legally required to do so, we make sure an adequate transfer mechanism is in place.
State and region specific information
You may have specific privacy rights in your state or region. For example, residents of California and other US states have specific rights, and Offjoiners in the European Economic Area, the UK, Brazil, the Republic of Korea and other jurisdictions also have specific rights.
Children
Our services are not intended for, and we do not direct them to, anyone under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. We may limit how we collect, use and store some information of EEA and UK users between 14 and 16, and where consent is required as a legal basis and your country requires parental consent, we may require your parent's consent before collecting and using that information.
Revisions to this Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll let you know by revising the date at the top of the policy available on our website, or by providing additional notice such as a statement on our homepage or an in-app notification.
